INTRODUCTION

We can safely say that God’s kingdom is still at work amongst the Youth in the circuits of this district. God has continued to motivate and inspire the youth to draw nearer to Him and further more to proclaim the good news to those young people who do not know the Lord.

Youthwork is being done in every circuit, this in itself is an opportunity to bring praise and thanksgiving to God. God is still alive and still at work. Going further this report will provide an overview of what work has been done in the district over the past year. This report will detail youth work done according to the four pillars of the Methodist Church of S.A.

SPIRITUALITY

The Youth have attended the prayer meetings, Bible Studies, church devotions and revival services. All of which have contributed to deepening their spirituality. All the branches in the district stress the importance of living the Holly life filled with personal prayer and worship.

EVANGELISM AND CHURCH GROWTH

Evangelism has taken place in the form of reaching out to everyone. Many circuits have also conducted evangelism trying to bring none believers to church. They’ve also visited prisons, hospitals and hospices try to bring those people nearer God’s kingdom and circuits have visited other circuits outside our district.

DEVELOPMENT AND ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT

Fundraising campaigns and church building maintenance projects have been conducted. Skills training and development programmes like gardening, financials, sewing classes etc.

YOUTH STRUCTURES THAT OPPERATE WITHIN OUR DISTRICT

  • WESLEY GUILD
  • SUNDAY SCHOOL
  • METHSOC
  • How the structures operate in relation to one another

As Wesley Guild Is the dominating structure, they try by all means to help develop other structures. They are active when it comes to teaching Sunday School. They are the ones active in Methsoc at tertiary level.

PROGRAMMES PERCULIAR TO OUR DISTRICT

  • Developing other Youth structures that will be active and attend Youth Synods.
  • Try to let the Wesley Guild be an independent structure to avoid the age issue

OUR FOCUS FOR THE YEAR  2008 / 2009

  • To be more committed and dedicated in serving Christ
  • Focus on Youth ministry and attract Youth from other cultures to commit themselves in youth ministry
  • Focus more on Sunday School to develop and groom them.

How do we see Youth work developing in our district

On part of Wesley Guild and Sunday School it’s excellent but we feel the need to develop more Youth work and that will only be done if Wesley Guild may be removed from Youth Unit because they are dominating and the Youth and other organizations are suffocating.
Challenges

  • Lack of spiritual growth
  • Increased number of teenage pregnancy
  • Commitment to organization
  • HIV/AIDS sufferers
  • Lack of discipline in members
  • Alcohol and staff abuse
  • Children and women abuse

Statistics
